SHE WEARS BLUE

Hands down, this piece was inspired by a portrait of Marie Antoinette, yes her again , done in oils on canvas by Rose-Adélaïde Ducreux in 1774.

Just take a peek at the portrait (the final image in this listing) and you'll see how this ultra fabulous 18Ctw Polished Kyanite Teardrop takes centerstage as it's surrounded by wee drops of AAA Peruvian Rhodocrosite, AAA Prasiolite and the most luscious Pearls ever! The focal itself has been manipulated into a shape mimicking that of Marie Antoinette herself, and showcases a lot, I mean really, a lot of AAA Iolite all over its womanly silhouette.

Note: yes, you discerning you, those Rhodocrosites are meant to echo that ever so subtle hint of rouge on Marie's baby smooth cheeks.

Continuing on the blue trek are Vintage Enamel Chains which are joined together with Polished Kyanite Coins, more Pearls, more Peruvian Rhodocrosite and, nearer to the "S" Clasp, stunning AAA Polished Kyanite Ovals. Weighing in at a hefty 31Ctw, these beauties are perhaps the most beautiful Kyanites I've seen in a long time, the nacre, the shine and the color which is a play of intense blue with hints of intriguing dark green. Just amazing.

Finished with a Hand-Hammered "S" Clasp featuring final touches of AAA Peruvian Rhodocrosites and a second 18Ctw Polished Kyanite Teardrop, She Wears Blue is definitely more subtle than my other creations - for me anyways - but those Kyanites really didn't need all that much embellishments, yes?

She Wears Blue has been gently oxidized, twice over, in the au naturel fashion vis-a-vis the use of boiled eggs, and then ever so slightly buffed with steel wool to achieve a darker, vintage-esque look.
